The San Antonio Chapter of the Federal Bar Association, the Bexar County Women's Bar Association, and District 5 of the Paralegal Division of the State Bar of Texas, are pleased to invite you to a program hosting girls participating in the Law Magnate Program at Fox Tech High School for a pizza mentoring luncheon.
This year's luncheon will occur on Friday, March 2, 2007, beginning at 11:30 a.m. and ending by 1:30 p.m.
We welcome you to take an hour or so from your busy schedule, join us for free pizza and beverages (purchased by the San Antonio Chapter of the FBA), sit at a table with a group of girls, visit with them about what you do for a living, your educational background, the struggles you may have faced in achieving your career goals, and answer any questions they may have about the career choices available to them.
The program is geared to encourage the girls to stay in school and do what it takes to succeed in spite of pressure from peers.
The annual pizza luncheon has been very well-received and successful - the girls appreciate the opportunity to talk informally with adults about education, training, and employment and the adults have expressed satisfaction with the earnestness, high spirits, and interest of the students!
Please join us!
If you are able to attend, please RSVP by e-mailing FBA Outreach Chair Beth Smith at beth@egsmithlaw.com by 12:00 noon on Monday, February 26, 2007, so that we are sure to have sufficient pizza!
If you have any questions about the program, please feel free to call Beth Smith at 731-9177 or FBA San Antonio Chapter President Judge Pam Mathy at 472-6350.

The 24th Annual Bench Brunch will be held on Sunday, October 29, 2006, at the Sky Room, University of Incarnate Word, 4301 Broadway, San Antonio, Texas 78209.
Bench Brunch is an honored event throughout the State of Texas and we simply cannot do it without our loyal members. Please consider volunteering to help out one of the many committees who make this event possible! You will have the satisfaction of working to benefit charitable organizations and programs in our own community, but also will get to know a great group of people in an informal and friendly setting and make the connections that count!
The co-chairs of this year's event, Kristal Cordova and Diana Geis, welcome your e-mail and interest in volunteering or sponsoring or donating - or all three!
Kristal Cordova may be reached at: kcordova@wpfamilylaw.com
Diana Geis may be reached at: Diana_Geis@obht.com.

A View from Three Benches: CLE at Central Market Cooking School
Would you like to earn CLE credit while enjoying a wonderful meal and a glass of wine? Here's your opportunity! The BCWBA is hosting a CLE on Tuesday, February 7, 2006 at 6:30 p.m. at Central Market's Cooking School on Broadway.
We are delighted to have County Court at Law Judge Irene Rios, District Court Judge Barbara Nellermoe and Fourth Court of Appeals Justice Sandee Bryan Marion discuss procedures unique to their Courts, and do's and don'ts for attorneys who appear in Court. The chefs at Central Market will also teach us how to cook (and, more importantly, let us sample) a specially prepared meal. The cost is $45.00 per person, and we have been approved for 1 hour of CLE.
What's the catch you ask? Since space is very limited, we can only bring our closest friends (i.e. those who rsvp the fastest), so please sign up now by e-mailing or calling Pamela St. John at pamela.st.john@att.com or 351-2043. We look forward to seeing you February 7th!
BCWBA/F 2005 Retreat
The Bexar County Women's Bar Foundation 2005 retreat was held on Friday, September 9 and Saturday, September 10, 2005, at the Mayan Dude Ranch in Bandera, Texas. It was a terrific success! We enjoyed a wonderful, relaxing, educational weekend with old friends and new!
Continuing Legal Education was offered on the topic: "Be Prepared: Tips for a More Successful You." Dr. John Reid, President of the Center for Trial Insights, Inc. and Kay Milne, Financial Advisor with H&R Block, were our outstanding CLE speakers. On the business side, Dr. Reid shared with us insight on how to select a jury and use focus groups during the selection process. On the personal side, Ms. Milne discussed methods of overcoming the barriers that investors face in today's market as well as tax considerations. .
The Mayan offered beautiful stone cottages and fabulous amenities including, hay rides, horseback riding and swimming and delightful group meals!
